In his 16 years in the service, Steve grew to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was a born leader that was well liked in his platoon. His specialty was analysis and data collection. His platoon were experts in gathering intelligence on hostile figures. They were well trained in field survival, and they were capable of surviving without outside support for 60 days.
Death
Steve's untimely death occurred on November 9, 2009 while serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was killed by a non-hostle incident. Steve was later buried on November 17, 2009.
